band, depending on the size of the bandwidth of RF signals. Therefore, for longer distances, the RF band can be split into two or three bands per transmitter. Then two or more receivers can have their outputs combined. In most instances, high-power transmitters, transmitting through the normal ber-optic distances, can carry the whole RF programming band. At one time, it was thought that using FM would be better, but technology in AM laser operation improved to the point that it became the method of choice. 7.412 The optical receivers used by the cable television industry are the integrated receiver to RF converter type. The optical cable is often terminated into the housing, and the optical signal is converted to RF at an appropriate signal level, comparative to a normal bridge ampli er level. This signal, as discussed in 4, is distributed to taps by using a ve-ampli er RF cascade. Such an optical system from the headend to a receiving point is shown in Figure 7-14.

There are at least two practical advantages to changing the zero origin for the Rulers. Say, for example, you re uncomfortable with measuring from the bottom left and prefer a more conventional set of Rulers that start at the upper-left corner of a page. Click-hold your cursor on the origin, and then drag to a point at the upper-left corner of the page. Doing this thwarts the ability to use the Property Bar for easy-to-read X, Y positions for objects because by convention (in drawing applications, CAD applications, and most advanced design programs), Y, the vertical measurement of space, always travels up in a positive direction. However, moving the origin not only can make the rulers suit your intuitions, but it s also a handy technique for measuring relative distance between objects, measured against each other and not as an absolute measurement against the page.

The fundamental unit of graphical data displayed by a 3-D graphics engine. A polygon is a region in 3-D space described by three or four points called vertices. The points make up a triangle or quadrilateral (usually abbreviated quad ); polygon is a generic term for either. Three-dimensional models are built up out of hundreds or thousands of polygons to create a surface. Some game engines are designed to work with triangles, others with quads. Most modeling tools are capable of producing either.

Disabling the password recovery process might be required by your security policy. The most common situation where I ve seen this feature implemented is in a shared SOHO location, where there s a chance that someone might steal the appliance. In this situation, you can protect your appliance configuration by disabling the password recovery process. Once you ve disabled the password recovery process, in order to break into the appliance, all files in flash are erased: configuration, operating system, ASDM, crash dumps, and private files! The break-in must occur from monitor/ROMMON mode, and you ll have to TFTP an OS into flash, boot up the appliance, and reconfigure it from scratch (or pull in a saved configuration from a server).

The lifter is strongest against opponents that rely on traction to fight, such as wedges and rammers. Robots with overhanging enclosed shells will be easy targets for a lifter because it can immobilize them by simply tilting one side up enough to lift their wheels off the ground. A lifter relies on being able to get the arm seated under an opponent firmly enough to lift, and it is against spinning robots that lifters have their hardest time winning. Many spinners have enough kinetic energy in their shells or spinning appendages to knock a lifter aside on contact, and unless the lifter can somehow stop a spinner s rotation, the lifter will simply take blow after blow until one robot breaks. Thwack bots are also tough opponents for lifters, as their wild spinning and invertable, open-wheeled design make it difficult for a lifter to get into a position to knock the thwack bot s wheels off the ground.

Easygoing and affable, Nines keep most strong feelings to themselves, even controlling the extent to which they allow themselves to feel them. As a result, most Nines experience feelings in the low- to medium-intensity range even when they are actually feeling them more strongly. Keeping their body language pleasant and neutral and using only slight variations in facial expressions and tone of voice, Nines appear consistent, mellow, and positive. Because Nines often look agreeable and display few variations in emotional reactions, others perceive them as highly approachable, thus allowing Nines to develop an easy rapport with a variety of people.

Along with the benefits, there are trade-offs to be made to keep the thin web package small and efficient. Because a smaller footprint means a reduction in size of the client package, certain features from the full-fledged Program Neighborhood or Program Neighborhood Agent are unavailable for the two smaller sized CAB-based client packages wficat.cab and wficac.cab.
