In the modi ed design, a riser is attached to the xed frame and an antioverrun is attached to the comb drive with a revolute joint. A sequence of images shown in Fig. 15.8 illustrates how the modi ed design works. The pawl rotates with the comb drive, engages the inner teeth of the gear (Fig. 15.8b), and rotates it counterclockwise (Fig. 15.8c). The antioverrun rotates with the driver, rides over the riser (Fig. 15.8b), engages the gear (Fig. 15.8c), and prevents further gear motion. When the comb drive is deactivated, torsional springs restore it to its start position, which disengages the pawl and the antioverrun (Fig. 15.8d and 15.8e). As before, the antireverse prevents the gear from rotating clockwise. This design modi cation was analyzed and veri ed using a kinematic analysis and tolerencing software (Sacks and Barnes, 2001). 15.6.3 Mechanical Lock I Spiral Groove Cam A mechanical locking device has been developed by Sandia researchers for applications where access to or activation of some crucial components should not occur until a certain sequence of events takes place. In the device shown in Fig. 15.9, a pin runs through a maze in a speci c way to unlock another component. As shown in the gure, the large gear has a spiral groove that has radial and circumferential segments. The gear is driven by Sandia s electrostatic microengine (described in Sec. 15.7.3) through a pinion that can be seen in Fig. 15.9. The pin is attached to a linear electrostatic comb drive to allow radial movements. The rotation of the large gear and the radial movement of the pin are to be coordinated in a speci c manner to let the pin run through the spiral groove from the beginning to the end. Only then can the gear rotate by some angle to release a latch to activate

Thus, the namespace alias qualifier disambiguated the situation. One last point: You can use the :: qualifier to refer to the global namespace by using the predefined identifier global, as in

FIguRE 6-2 Types of movements commonly found in chemical bonds. (a) Free rotation. (b) Bending. (c) compression. (d) extension or stretching. (e) twisting (limited rotation). motions (b) through (e) are all springlike motions: they occur with a restoring force, a force that somewhat opposes their motion and tends to restore the atoms back to their original position.

In this example, the array containing the objects to be iterated is passed to MyClass through its constructor. The type of the array is specified as a type argument to MyClass. The GetEnumerator( ) method operates on data of type T and returns an IEnumerator<T> enumerator. Thus, the iterator defined by MyClass can enumerate any type of data.

Line caps, the beginning and end of an open path, can look like their counterparts, the corners, covered in the previous section. One of the greatest visual differences you can create is that the true width of a path is extended using the Round and Extended choices the outline width overshoots the true path s length, proportional to the width you choose for an outline. Figure 18-4 shows examples of your end cap options. Applying line cap options to the end points of an open path affects not only the first and last nodes appearance on an open path, but it also affects dashed and dotted line styles, as shown in Figure 18-5.
