The link layer (sometimes referred to as the network access layer) is the lowest logical layer in the TCP/IP protocol suite. Several protocols have been implemented as link layer protocols, including: ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) This protocol is used when a station on a network needs to find another station s MAC when it knows its Internet layer (IP) address. Basically, a station sends a broadcast on a local network, asking, in effect, What station on this network has IP address xx.xx.xx.xx If any station on the network does have this IP address, it responds to the sender. When the sending station receives the reply, the receiving station s MAC address is contained in the reply, and the sending station can now send messages to the destination station since it knows its MAC address. Another type of ARP message is known as a gratuitous ARP message that informs other stations on the network of the station s IP and MAC addresses. RARP (Reverse Address Resolution Protocol) This protocol is used by a station that needs to know its Internet layer (IP) address. A station sends a broadcast on a local network, asking, This is my MAC address (xx.xx.xx.xx.xx. xx). What is my IP address supposed to be If a station configured to respond

Your compensation as an employee of any company actually consists of a lot more than just your salary; it s a whole package of benefits. Some of them may be new to you if this is your first full-time job. When you re computing the value of a job offer, it s important to take all the compensation into account, not just the salary. If a company doesn t offer any health insurance, for example, then you ll have to spend a lot of money out of your own pocket to buy some. What s more, health insurance premiums aren t tax-deductible unless (along with other medical expenses) they add up to more than 7.5 percent of your annual income, which isn t very likely. On the other hand, if the company buys health insurance for you, it s tax-free. In this section, I ll describe the various kinds of compensation you may be offered. One caveat, though: I ll only be talking about American companies. Employment regulations vary considerably from country to country, and many nations have government-mandated vacation policies, for example.

Each time an object is copied to the Windows Clipboard, the previous Clipboard contents are overwritten. To copy selected objects onto your Clipboard, choose Edit | Copy. Better yet, click the Copy button on the Standard Toolbar, or use the standard CTRL+C shortcut. The older Windows CTRL+INSERT shortcut also works. After copying, the items you copy remain unaltered in your document. If you find clipbrd.exe in Windows/System32 (under Windows XP), you can see what s on the system s Clipboard, and this is a hedge against accidentally removing your CorelDRAW with a screen capture or some text you copied to it. The Cut command automatically deletes the selected items from your document and puts a copy on the Clipboard. To cut items, click the Cut button in the Standard Toolbar, choose Edit | Cut, or use the standard CTRL+X shortcut. The older Windows SHIFT+DELETE shortcut also applies. To create duplicates of your selected objects immediately, press the + key on your keyboard s numeric keypad. Copies immediately are placed in front of the selected objects in the document and in exactly the same page position. This action works independently of the Clipboard, meaning that your current Clipboard contents remain intact.

Cable television systems have to be completely tested on an annual basis for proper system performance parameters as required by the FCC under Part 76, Title 47 of the Federal Commission Rules of 1990. The rst test period should be when the system is rst turned on after construction is completed. A system operator should insist that the new system pass all FCC tests satisfactorily before nal acceptance and the contractors are paid. In short, it should be a part of the construction contract in the nal checkout and acceptance. For the rst three years, annual proof of performance tests are conducted on an RF basis, after which tests are performed on base-band signals. RF tests take place twice yearly and base-band tests are every three years. Systems with fewer than 1,000 subscribers are still exempt from proof of performance testing. Smaller systems are similar to MATV systems. Systems with 1,000 to 12,500 subscribers have to be tested at six widely separated test points, where at least one-third must be set at the most distant point from the central signal source. For systems greater than 12,500 subs, another test point needs to be added for every additional 12,500 subscribers. Each system has to have in its company technical records a copy of the FCC rules and regulations Part 76, Title 47. Test records have to be kept on le for a ve-year period and are subject to inspection at any time by a representative of the commission. The test results also must include the test procedures, calibration data and dates for the test instruments used, and the quali cations of the persons conducting the tests. The test points are speci ed at the subscriber terminal, which in most systems is the converter output terminal. Since most converters are pre-tested, tests can be made at the end of a 100-foot drop from the system tap and can be corrected by the converter performance speci cations.

good idea. To change the size of the array, simply change the value of SIZE and then recompile. Using a const variable to define a "magic number" that is used frequently within a program is common practice in professionally written C++ code. The program will provide these three options:
