After you remove the engine and before you take the flywheel off, carefully and accurately measure the distance from the front of the engine to the face of the flywheel (the part the clutch touches). This is the critical distance you want to reproduce in your electric motor mounting setup. In the 1987 Ford Ranger conversion, this critical distance measurement is 1.750 inches, but it will vary for different vehicles. You re going to put an adapter plate on the electric motor, put a hub or coupling on the electric motor s shaft, and attach the flywheel to this hub. When you ve done this, the critical distance from the front of the flywheel to the front of the motor adapter plate (see Figure 10-8) should measure exactly the same. Knowing your goal the critical distance makes it easier to navigate towards it. Whether you have a front engine plus transmission or front or rear engine plus transaxle, this goal will be the same, although the specifics will differ. Your original flywheel might weigh 24 lbs. and have an attached ring gear (for the starter motor). Remove the ring gear that fits around the flywheel s outside edge and have the flywheel machined down to 12 lbs. or so by removing metal from its outside edge and rear (the part that faces the motor). Don t touch the flywheel s face (unless it has obvious burns or other defects). These steps don t hurt your flywheel at all, yet save weight the most important factor in your EV conversion s performance. This is also a good time to give the clutch (the inside layer of the clutch pressure plate/clutch/flywheel sandwich ) a thorough exam. If the clutch is old (used for more than 30,000 miles) or obviously worn, now is the time to replace it. Also take a look at transmission seals and mounts and replace them if excessively worn. Keep in mind you re going to be using your clutch in an entirely new way (not using it is a better description, because there s nothing to start up you put it in gear first), so this new clutch ought to last you 200,000 miles or more.

A mesh fill can include up to 50 individual vertical and/or horizontal patches. Although you change these values by using the Property Bar s + or button, you can also do it interactively by double-clicking any point on the grid or between the grid lines. Adding a new mesh point adds either a new vertical or new horizontal mesh line to the complexity of the effect. To add a single node without adding an associated mesh line, click a point on the line, right-click to open the pop-up menu, and choose Add Node. To delete a point with your cursor, doubleclick the point. To add a mesh point quickly anywhere on an existing mesh line or mesh patch, double-click anywhere on the mesh object. While a mesh point or mesh line is selected, you change the node or curve properties using options on the Property Bar, or by right-clicking a point or line and using the options on the context-sensitive pop-up menu. Mesh line properties can be changed by choosing To Line or To Curve, and mesh points may be changed by choosing Cusp, Smooth, or Symmetrical. To delete a selected mesh point or mesh line without the Property Bar options, right-click the point or line and choose Delete from the pop-up menu, or press DELETE. To select all the mesh points in a mesh object instantly, double-click the Interactive Mesh Fill Tool button in the Toolbox while a mesh object is selected. Mesh fills can be applied to vector and bitmap objects; however, unless the visual content of the imported bitmap is very, very simple (like a screen capture of a cursor or icon), the bitmap will be a good starting place for playing with colors, but the visual content often will resemble oatmeal after you begin editing the mesh nodes. Here s the deal: with bitmap objects, the bitmap s color is mapped to the mesh intersection points, and fountain fills are then created. Although you may clear a mesh fill effect from a vector shape and return it to its original condition, the same does not apply to bitmap objects, but don t worry CorelDRAW imports bitmaps so your original photo of your pets or family remains unchanged. After a mesh fill has been applied to an object, the object cannot be filled with any other fill type unless the mesh fill effect has first been cleared. To clear a mesh fill applied to a selected object, click the Clear Mesh button in the Property Bar. If you ve had your fill, this is okay so have your objects. You ve learned in this chapter how to tap into CorelDRAW fills, and hopefully you ve also seen how important fills can be to your drawings. Fills can actually be more visually complex than the shape of objects. Take a cardboard box, for example. The shape of the box isn t that interesting and takes only a few seconds to draw. But the texture of a cardboard box is where the object gets its character and mood. Line attributes are covered in the following chapter, where you can do as much with customizing the thing that goes around an object as with the object itself.

the trunk to the splits should be done to identify which, if any, is the noisiest point. Many systems have found that reworking the drops in the system using 90-percent shielded drop cable, new F connectors, and exterior drop hardware drastically improves the noise and ingress on the return path. Troubleshooting maintenance techniques in testing is covered in more detail in the next chapter. 6.111 Subscriber installations in many communities of single-family homes or duplexes are aerial drops. The aerial drop, exposed to the outside weather, will deteriorate quicker than many underground drops. This is mainly due to wind, rain, ice, and snow stressing the drop cable at the points of connection, that is, at both the utility pole and the house. An aerial subscriber drop is shown in Figure 6-2.

The security appliances support AAA functionality. Normally, AAA is used to control access to the command-line interface shell of a networking device. The appliances support this function of AAA, but also use AAA for network access through them, allowing users to authenticate to the appliance before their connection or connections are allowed through. Some examples of these AAA appliance features are CTP and remote access VPNs, like IPSec and WebVPN.
