Here, the value of num is set independently of any object by using its class name and the scope resolution operator. Furthermore, this statement is valid even before any objects of type ShareVar exist! Thus, you can obtain or set the value of a static class member before creating any objects. Although you may not see an immediate need for static members, as you continue to write programs in C++, you will find them very useful in certain situations, because they allow you to avoid the use of global variables. It is also possible for a member function to be declared as static, but this usage is not common. A member function declared as static may only access other static members of its class. (Of course, a static member function may access non-static global data and functions.) A static member function does not have a this pointer. Virtual static member functions are not allowed. Also, they cannot be declared as const or volatile. A static member function can be invoked by an object of its class, or it may be called independently of any object, using the class name and the scope resolution operator.

At its core, the term generics means parameterized types. Parameterized types are important because they enable you to create classes, structures, interfaces, methods, and delegates in which the type of data upon which they operate is specified as a parameter. Using generics, it is possible to create a single class, for example, that automatically works with different types of data. A class, structure, interface, method, or delegate that operates on a parameterized type is called generic, as in generic class or generic method. It is important to understand that C# has always given you the ability to create generalized code by operating through references of type object. Because object is the base class of all other classes, an object reference can refer to any type of object. Thus, in pre-generics code, generalized code used object references to operate on a variety of different kinds of objects.
Errored Seconds An errored second is a second in which any of the following occurs:
As long as the Yes button is clicked, you will hear a beep. In this case, the result of the test in the conditional statement was True or False: The button clicked either was the Yes button (True), or else it was not the Yes button (False). The statement does not have to reside all on one line, and usually you would not write it so. Instead you might write it something like this:
SIP/2.0 100 Trying Via: SIP/2.0/UDP; branch=z9hG4bK7890 From: Boss<>; tag=ab12 To: Daniel<> Call-ID: CSeq: 1 INVITE

Next, between c1 = 1 and c2 = 5, we add the second term whose corner frequency is c2 = 5, giving |H ( )|dB = 20 log10 |150| 20 log10 |1 + j | 1< 5
Use the #else.
If you re handy with a felt-tip pen and own a scanner, you could bring the bitmap images into CorelDRAW and then use PowerTRACE (see 27) to auto-trace every character. Using this approach, as shown in Figure 15-2, often leads to a natural style, full of little irregularities, for the typeface characters. Routinely, you ll need to manually edit the result of the tracing to eliminate superfluous nodes and to make other minor consistency corrections. Alternatively, you could bring in your scanned image, lock it on
