Associating the * or & with the type name reflects the desire of some programmers for C++ to contain a separate pointer or reference type. However, the trouble with associating the & or * with the type name rather than the variable is that, according to the formal C++ syntax, neither the & nor the * is distributive over a list of variables. Thus, misleading declarations are easily created. For example, the following declaration creates one, not two, integer pointers. Here, b is declared as an integer (not an integer pointer) because, as specified by the C++ syntax, when used in a declaration the * (or &) is linked to the individual variable that it precedes, not to the type that it follows.

While an agent is running, it periodically tries to renew its license. There is no renew operation; rather, the agent only attempts to check out the license again using the same linger time. For example, consider the scenario of a Named User license with a linger time of 21 days. Every six hours, the agent tries to check out a license with a linger time of 21 days. By having a proper understanding of the technical details of the differences in licensing among the Citrix products and knowledge of the licensing debug log, an administrator can have a valuable tool for troubleshooting. When using the log file, an administrator can see the licensing process to assist in tracking down issues. NOTE The log file is cleared by restarting the licensing service. To set up the log file to retain the past information, please see the Licensing_Guide.pdf.

The prototype for getpass( ) is in <conio.h>. This function is not defined by the ANSI/ISO C/C++ standard. After displaying the prompt str on the screen, the getpass( ) function returns a pointer to a null-terminated string of not more than eight characters. This string is statically allocated by getpass( ) and is overwritten each time the function is called. If you want to save the string, you must copy it elsewhere. Keystrokes are not echoed when the password is entered.
The non-generic collections are defined by a set of interfaces and the classes that implement those interfaces. Each is described by the following sections.

and TV sets. Many homes subscribing to a cable service that are supplemented by a direct satellite broadcast system (DBS) as well as a VCR can have an elaborate switching distribution system. A word of caution: When a subscriber has an off-air rooftop antenna connected to the switching coupling network, care should be taken to prevent the wideband cable system from being connected to the antenna. This could cause some serious interference problems with many homes in the neighborhood as well as the cable operator. Remote as it may seem, it can happen and it has happened before. Such signals can disrupt air traf c communications as well as some of the law enforcement and safety mobile radio services. Another word of caution is to make sure switching and coupling devices are appropriate for cable television use. Some available devices are made for base-band video and are not appropriate for higher RF frequencies. Probably one of the most important considerations with subscriberconnected equipment is the connectors themselves. Some of these connectors are used by the subscriber and are obtained at local electronic outlets, hardware stores, and homeowners outlet stores. Unapproved tools and techniques are often used and hence the connectors are improperly installed. This is beyond the control of the cable operator, who only learns about it through resulting service calls reporting poor signal problems by the subscriber. The connector used to connect subscriber equipment is the F -type connector, which had its infancy in the MATV industry. This connector evolved from a rudimentary connector with a separate 1/8-inch crimp ring to a single-piece, weather-tight connector that requires proper stripping tooling, and a more precise crimp tool. Several manufacturers supply versions of these superior F -type connectors to the industry. Most cable operators use this type of connector and have instructed their installer personnel in the proper installation procedures. However, a lot of the old connectors are still out there in many cable systems. Changing these connectors is an expensive and labor-intensive procedure and is usually done during a system upgrade. These poor, early F connectors cause signal leakage, ingress, and noise problems that interfere with the use of an active return signal plant. When a cable system is planning a system upgrade requiring an activated return path, changing all the subscriber F connectors on an area-by-area basis is necessary in order to control the noise and signal ingress in the return path. Often subscribers not using the return path will have a lter trap at the return band frequencies, which will prevent signals or noise entering the return path from this location.
