The reset/unlock process, shown in Figure 15-5, also involves the use of the Password Manager Service. The user is authenticated by supplying the answers given to the questions during the time of enrollment. 1. To do a reset, the user requires an authentication, by submitting their User name. 2. The service does a proxy read to determine if the user has registered. 3. A series of questions is sent to the user. 4. The user supplies the response and it is compared with what is read from the central store. If a match occurs, the user gets presented with the next question. 5. Once all questions are answered correctly, the user is allowed to proceed with Account Self-service. 6. The service attempts a password reset or account unlock on the Authentication Authority. 7. The user is informed of the result: success or failure.
Above the join type, the cardinalities are indicated with 1,n = 1,1. Cardinality defines how many instances there are of each unique record in the related table: zero, one, or many. In a standard, single-star schema, all of your relationships will be one to many between the dimensions and the fact table. If you remove the check from the cardinalities box, the 1,n and 1,1 are no longer displayed in the join panel beside the join operator. To change the appearance of the cardinality in the structure pane, select Tools | Database | Graphics. Cardinality applies to each table in a join statement: Table 1(1,n) Every item in the dimension table has one or more records in the fact table. Table 2(1,1) For every record in the fact table, there is one and only one record in the lookup table. According to the vendor-provided documentation, the sole purpose of cardinality detection is to warn you of possible loops. If you do not set the cardinalities and request Designer to detect loops, you will receive a warning that this feature works only after cardinalities have been set. In reality, though, the loop detection appears to work with or without cardinalities being set. Also, cardinality detection does not correctly detect many-to-many relationships, nor does it detect zero relationships (which would be quite useful in defining outer joins). According to Business Objects product management, the detection algorithm counts rows to determine the cardinality and does not catch anomalies that may affect cardinality. This does not appear to have changed from versions 5 and 6 to XI. If you skip cardinality detection completely, Designer will still correctly detect loops but will not propose contexts. Therefore, you may want to skip this process entirely if Your universe will have only one star or snowflake schema. The cardinality between tables is not typical of star schemas. A star schema typically has one dimension to many facts. If your tables have many-to-many relationships and Designer correctly detects this (it normally doesn t), then Designer will falsely tell you No New Contexts Needed. For more accurate context detection, manually set the cardinalities.
