To Use the Sequence activity Do This SequenceActivity is a composite activity, and as such it acts as a drop site for other activities. Simply drag and drop an instance of the Sequence activity onto the workflow visual designer. Then drag and drop other activities onto SequenceActivity as necessary to complete your workflow. Those activities will be executed in the order they appear in the designer, from top to bottom. With the visual workflow designer visible and active, drag an instance of the Code activity onto the surface and drop it into the workflow process as appropriate. Then provide an ExecuteCode method name in the Properties window. Populate that method with the code you want to execute. With the visual workflow designer visible and active, drag an instance of the Throw activity onto the surface and drop it into the workflow process as appropriate. Then assign the Fault and FaultType properties to provide the Throw activity with the exception to throw as well as the type of exception it should expect. With the visual workflow designer visible and active, and with the Fault Handlers view showing, drag an instance of the FaultHandler activity onto the surface and drop it into the workflow process as appropriate. Then assign the FaultType property to assign the type of exception it will handle. With the visual workflow designer visible and active, drag an instance of the Suspend activity onto the surface and drop it into the workflow process as appropriate. Then assign the Error property to assign the error string value it will report to the workflow runtime via the WorkflowSuspended event. With the visual workflow designer visible and active, drag an instance of the Terminate activity onto the surface and drop it into the workflow process as appropriate. Then assign the Error property to assign the error string value it will report to the workflow runtime via the WorkflowTerminated event.

The FAT-to-NTFS conversion process in Windows XP also uses another new feature to prevent the fragmentation of the Master File Table (MFT). By preventing the fragmentation of the MFT during the disk s conversion to NTFS, it becomes more likely that the MFT will occupy a contiguous space after converting a disk, allowing it to be accessed more rapidly. Fragmentation is prevented in a rather creative way the MFT is temporarily stored in a placeholder file during conversion. When the conversion is complete, the contents of the file can be written to the contiguous disk space. Preventing file fragmentation is a recurring theme in the implementation of NTFS in Windows XP. There are now two ways to initiate a defragmenting process on a Windows XP computer. The first method is to use Disk Defragmenter, a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in accessed by choosing Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Defragmenter. Using Disk Defragmenter, you can analyze and (if needed) defragment drives. The new alternate method involves using the command-line tool Defrag.exe.

Every application is driven by data, whether it s something as simple as a username and password or as complex as a multicurrency shopping cart. In the MVC pattern, this data layer is represented by one or more models, which provide functions to retrieve, save, delete, and otherwise manipulate application data. This data layer is output-agnostic: it is completely concerned with the data itself, and completely unconcerned with how that data is presented to the user. As such, it provides a logically independent interface to manipulate application data. To illustrate, consider a simple Web application that allows users to post classified advertisements for used cars. Under the MVC pattern, this application s data the car listings would be represented by a Listing model, which would expose methods for manipulating the underlying data. This model would not be concerned with the visual display of the listings; rather, its focus would be on the functions needed to access and manipulate individual listings and their attributes in the data store. Here s an example of what one such model might look like:

Multiple-booting and file system compatibility NTFS is the recommended file system for Windows XP Professional. However, you might need a different file system to multipleboot Windows XP Professional with an operating system that cannot access NTFS volumes. If you use NTFS to format a partition, only Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, and Windows NT 4.0 (with Service Pack 4 or later) can access the volume locally on the machine. If you plan to install Windows XP Professional and another operating system on the same computer, you must use a file system that all operating systems installed on the computer can access. For example, if the computer has Windows 98 and Windows XP Professional, you must use FAT on any partition that Windows 98 must access. However, if the computer has
