Use one domain controller in sites with fewer than 1,000 users, two domain controllers for between 1,000 and 10,000 users, and an additional domain controller for every 5,000 users above 10,000. In a single domain forest, make all domain controllers global catalog servers because no extra space or replication traffic is generated. In multiple-domain for ests, you can create as many global catalog servers as you want to achieve load balancing and redundancy of services. Microsoft recommends placing at least one global catalog server in each site. Intrasite replication is optimized for speed. Domain controllers replicate changes, when they occur, in uncompressed format. Intersite replication is optimized to preserve bandwidth. Replication occurs through bridgehead servers, the data is compressed, and you can schedule the availability of site links and the interval at which replication occurs.

If your current path is SQLSERVER:\SQL\MIAMI\DEFAULT\Databases\ AdventureWorks2008\Tables\Person.Address and you want to move to the Tables subfolder directly above the current path, you can type cd .. to move up one level in the path. If your current path is SQLSERVER:\SQL\MIAMI\DEFAULT\Databases\ AdventureWorks2008\Tables\Person.Address and you want to move to the SQL Policy folder, the easiest option is probably to type cd \SQLPolicy.

Here you can see that the object constructor includes a pointer to a Manipulation processor, IManipulationProcessor *m_manipulationProc, and a pointer to the target object that you want to manipulate, CDrawingObject* m_pcDrawingObject. Note that you keep a local member of the rectangular CDrawingObject, m_pcDrawingObject, to manipulate it after the events are sent from the Manipulation processor. In our examples, we handle only the ManipulationDelta function, by simply passing a parameter that represents the two-dimensional transformation to the m_pcDrawingObject, as shown by the following code snippet, which is part of the CManipulationEventSink.cpp file:

When you have created, tested, and debugged your SSIS package, you then deploy it on your production database. If you want to deploy an SSIS package, you first need to configure a build process that creates a deployment utility for an SSIS project. The deployment utility is a folder that contains the files you need to deploy the packages in an SSIS project on a different server. You create the utility on the computer on which the SSIS project is stored. When you build the project, all packages and package configurations in the project are automatically included in the utility. To deploy additional files with the project, place the files in the Miscellaneous folder of the SSIS project. When the project builds, these files are also automatically included. You can configure each project deployment differently. Before you build the project and create the package deployment utility, you can set the properties on the deployment utility to customize the way the utility deploys packages in the project. For example, you can specify whether package configurations can be updated during deployment. When you build an SSIS project, BIDS creates a manifest file and adds it, together with copies of the project packages and package dependencies, to the bin\Deployment folder in the project or to the location specified in the DeploymentOutputPath property. The manifest file lists the packages, the package configurations, and any miscellaneous files in the project. You can deploy SQL Server 2005 Integration Services (SSIS) packages by using a deployment utility, by using the import and export package features in SSMS, or by saving a copy of the package in BIDS. However, only the deployment utility can deploy multiple packages, including the package dependencies (for example, configurations and table names) and the files that contain supporting information (for example, documentation). For example, if you create an SSIS project on your test network and want to deploy it on your production network, but your production network uses different table names

Without any extra work, there are two items that are of great use when performing asynchronous invocations. In the first lesson we saw one way to determine when the method completed. However, that example was a bit of a simplified version. Each asynchronous Web method has a Begin<methodName> method associated with it. The Begin<methodName> methods have a return type of IAsyncResult. Follow these steps to call a Begin<methodName> method, check its execution status, and respond accordingly. 1. Create an IAsyncResult variable and set it to the return value of the Web service s Begin<methodName> method. 2. Poll the IsCompleted property of the IAsyncResult variable until it turns true. 3. Call the End<methodName> method. This process might sound complex but it s actually quite simple, as the following code illustrates:
virtual private network (VPN) Provides encapsulated, encrypted, and authenti cated virtual connections across public networks. VPN connections can provide secured remote access and routed connections to private networks over the Internet. VPN connections can be created by using Layer Two Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) or Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) tunnels.
