Note that you might get quite different results; as I said, the exact form of XML returned is unpredictable without a proper ORDER BY clause . It is not only the ORDER BY clause that is important; the order of columns in the SELECT clause also influences the XML returned . SQL Server uses column order to determine the nesting of elements . The following query uses the correct ORDER BY clause; however, SQL Server generates the weird nesting, nesting you

Previewing the dialog box in this way saves you at least one mouse click (and possible frustration when you open two or three dialog boxes looking for the one you want).

breakpoint modifiers on each of the breakpoints. As you can imagine, setting two regular stop-always location breakpoints on a line isn't going to buy you very much! After setting the first breakpoint using normal methods, the trick to setting the second one is to use the Breakpoint dialog box to do the magic. The easiest way to show you how to set multiple breakpoints is through an example. The following code snippet shows the line number in comments before each line. /* Source file: CSharpBPExamples.cs. */ /*84*/ /*85*/ /*86*/ /*87*/ } for ( i = 0 , m = 0 ; i < 10 ; i++ , m-- ) { Console.WriteLine ( "i = {0} m = {0}" , i , m ) ;
The Player notes the space available on the blank disc and tallies up the elapsed time of all the tracks you ve added to the Burn List. If the total is greater than the capacity of the blank disc, it adds Next Disc markers at the break points. Note the total time figure at the top of the List pane and the remaining time for the last disc at the bottom of the same box. You can accept the disc breaks as defined or edit the playlist. A blue icon to the left of any track indicates that the track contains restricted media usage rights that don t allow burning. By default, Windows Media Players assumes you want to burn an audio CD that can be played back in most home or car CD players. If you would rather burn a data disk consisting of compressed files, click the arrow beneath the Burn button on the Player taskbar and choose Data CD or DVD from the drop-down list.
Here are several guidelines for creating abbreviations. Some of them contradict others, so don t try to use them all at the same time. Use standard abbreviations (the ones in common use, which are listed in a dictionary). Remove all nonleading vowels. (computer becomes cmptr, and screen becomes scrn. apple becomes appl, and integer becomes intgr.) Remove articles: and, or, the, and so on. Use the first letter or first few letters of each word. Truncate after the first, second, or third (whichever is appropriate) letter of each word. Keep the first and last letters of each word. Use every significant word in the name, up to a maximum of three words. Remove useless suffixes ing, ed, and so on. Keep the most noticeable sound in each syllable. Iterate through these techniques until you abbreviate each variable name to between 8 to 20 characters, or the number of characters to which your language limits variable names.

It is important to distinguish the WHERE clause from the HAVING clause. To illustrate this difference, Listing 8-27 shows a WHERE clause added to the previous query. Listing 8-27. HAVING vs. WHERE select from where group by having deptno, count(empno) employees bdate > date '1960-01-01' deptno count(*) >= 4;
