In this chapter, we discussed how client-side RS can make use of data sources other than SQL Server. We first connected to Microsoft Access data and then to XML data; both Access and XML are file-based data repositories. Finally, we reported on data from Oracle, which is a server-based repository. In the next chapter, we ll discuss the remote processing mode. We ll also look at accessing a server-side report with the Windows Forms client.

Programming systems such as .NET support debugging as a primary activity through tools to help you inspect programs for possible errors. The debugger is one of the most important of these tools, and it allows you to inspect the program state during execution. You can execute the program stepwise and analyze its state during execution.

The Label control you placed in the rst column in the WebPartZone is going to display the local weather information. Note that to ensure that the weather information is displayed, a live Internet connection is needed. This information will be provided from The Weather Channel. Let s look at the label more closely. <ZoneTemplate> <asp:Label ID="Label1" runat="server" title="My Local Weather" Text="<script src=' /15205 template=GENXH&par=1009624279&unit=0& key=bce0ccdcde3556afd178545e369e6038'></script>" Height="53px"> </asp:Label> </ZoneTemplate> You now have all the content necessary within the WebPartZones. 2008 read pdf417

Applied to any class, this attribute indicates that the class is serializable. For .NET Remoting, you need this each time you want to transport a class between the client and the server. Also often known as a marshal by value object, it is not accessed and executed on the remote server through an object reference; rather it is serialized, sent across the wire, and deserialized at the other endpoint. Therefore, objects that need to be sent as messages between a .NET Remoting client and a server have to have the SerializableAttribute applied. Usage example: [Serializable] public class Customer { public string Firstname; public string Lastname; public int Age; [NonSerialized] public int InternalNumber; public Customer(string first, string last, int age) { // ... } } Usually the .NET Framework serializer serializes all public and private members of a class. If you don t want specific members to be serialized, you can use the NonSerialized attribute for those members. I use this attribute for all classes that are exchanged between the client and the server as messages. The first occurrence and explanation of this attribute can be found in 2 in the first .NET Remoting example. More information on MSDN: frlrfsystemserializableattributeclasstopic.asp
You mainly deal with two views in the Visual Studio IDE: Design view and Code view. When you open the Visual Studio IDE, by default it displays the Design view, as shown in Figure 14-3. Design view allows you to drag controls and drop them onto the form. You can use the Properties window to set the properties of objects and forms or other files shown in Solution Explorer. Solution Explorer also allows you to rename the project, forms, or even other files included in the project. You can rename these objects by selecting them, rightclicking, and selecting Rename from the context menu. Basically, Design view gives you a visual way to work with the controls, objects, project files, and so forth. On the other hand, you ll want to use the other view available in the Visual Studio IDE, Code view, when you are working with code to implement the functionality behind the visual controls sitting on the surface of your Windows Forms. To switch from Design view to Code view, click View Code or right-click the Windows Form in Design view and select View Code. Either method will open the code editor for you as shown in Figure 14-4.

If you determine that this activity should be reviewed, now you ll also decide what priority should be given to the review. For example, we might want higher value transactions to move to the top of the list. Open the QCPolicy.cs file in design mode and drag an IfElseActivity below the ReviewPolicy activity. Click the left branch, and in the Properties window set the Name property to IfReview. For the Condition property, select Declarative Rule Condition. Expand the Condition property; for the ConditionName, enter Review; for the Expression property, click the ellipsis and enter this.Review. This branch will be executed only when the Review property is True. The Properties window should look like the one shown in Figure 20-11.
Message-based systems can support transactions and allow for explicit commit and rollback. With JMS, it s possible to have transactions in a messaging session or have more robust arrangements with the help of the Java Transaction API (JTA). In data services such as LCDS and BlazeDS, it s possible to use a JMS transacted session. A transacted session supports transactions within a session. Therefore, a rollback in a transacted session will roll back all the sends and receives in that session. However, it will have no impact on transactions that are outside of the session. In other words, if the JMS messages interacting with Flex also affect a transaction in another enterprise application or the database, a rollback will only impact the JMS session and not these external systems. Turning this feature on is as simple as setting the transacted-sessions value in the configuration file to true. This is what it looks like:
