Azure Storage authenticates each user by hashing the headers (using SHA 256) with a shared secret key. If anyone tampers with a header or the wrong key is used, then the hash will not match what Azure is expecting and it will return an HTTP 403 error (not authenticated). Note that, for additional security, Azure messages expire after 15 minutes and will be rejected.

Surprisingly to many people, the SELECT will have generated redo. Not only that, but it will also have dirtied these modified blocks, causing DBWR to write them again. This is due to the block cleanout. Next, I ll run the SELECT to visit every block once again and see that no redo is generated. This is expected, as the blocks are all clean at this point. We ll start by creating our table: ops$tkyte%ORA11GR2> create table t 2 ( id number primary key, 3 x char(2000), 4 y char(2000), 5 z char(2000) 6 ) 7 / Table created. ops$tkyte%ORA11GR2> exec dbms_stats.set_table_stats( user, "T", numrows=>10000, numblks=>10000 ); PL/SQL procedure successfully completed. I used DBMS_STATS to set table statistics so as to avoid any side effects from hard parsing later (Oracle tends to scan objects that have no statistics during a hard parse and this side effect would interfere with my example!). So, this is my table with one row per block (in my 8KB blocksize database). Next, we ll inspect the block of code we ll be executing against this table: ops$tkyte%ORA11GR2> declare 2 l_rec t%rowtype; 3 begin 4 for i in 1 .. 10000 5 loop 6 select * into l_rec from t where id=i; 7 end loop; 8 end; 9 / declare * ERROR at line 1: ORA-01403: no data found ORA-06512: at line 6 That block failed, but that s OK we knew it would since there is no data in the table yet. I ran that block simply to get the hard parse of the SQL and PL/SQL performed so when we run it later, we won t have to worry about side effects from hard parsing being counted. Now we are ready to load the data into our table and commit: ops$tkyte%ORA11GR2> insert into t 2 select rownum, "x", "y", "z" 3 from all_objects 4 where rownum <= 10000; 10000 rows created. ops$tkyte%ORA11GR2> commit; Commit complete.

Recall that one of the framework s goals is to simplify and standardize the creation of business and validation rules. It also automates the tracking of broken validation rules. An important side benefit of this is that the UI developer will have read-only access to the list of broken rules, which means that the descriptions of the broken rules can be displayed to the user in order to explain what s making the object invalid. The support for tracking broken business rules is available to all editable business objects, so it s implemented at the BusinessBase level in the framework. To provide this functionality, each business object has an associated collection of broken business rules. Additionally, a rule is defined as a method that returns a Boolean value indicating whether the business requirement is met. In the case that the result is False (the rule is broken), a rule also returns a text description of the problem for display to the user. To automate this process, each business object has an associated list of rule methods for each property in the object. Figure 2-13 illustrates all the framework classes required to implement both the management of rule methods and the maintenance of the list of broken rule descriptions.

CHAPTER 8 HOSTING AND COMMUNICATIONS
CHAPTER 9 STATEMENTS
Does it not look silly that in a member method check, of class Odd.Or.Even, we have to address this very class s member field as Odd.Or.Even::val ILAsm 2.0 offers three special keywords to refer to current class, the parent of the current class, and the encloser of the current class if the current class is nested (see 7 for details). The keyword .this means the current class (not the current instance of the class, like the this keyword in C++ or C#). When used outside class scope, this keyword causes a compilation error. In the sample s code, instead of the following: ldsflda int32 Odd.or.Even::val you could use this: ldsflda int32 .this::val The keyword .base means the parent of the current class. This keyword must also be used only within a class scope, and the class must have a parent (an explicit or implicit extends clause). I haven t used a reference to the parent of the Odd.Or.Even class in the samples, but such references usually are numerous in code. For example, class Odd.Or.Even has no constructor, because it has only static members, so you don t need to instantiate it. But most classes have constructors, and the first step the class s constructor must take is to call the parent s constructor. Even if you don t need to do something special during the class construction, you still need a default constructor if you plan to instantiate the class. The following example defines a default constructor and is very useful in IL programming: #define DEFLT_CTOR ".method public specialname void .ctor() { ldarg.0; call instance void .base::.ctor(); ret;}" (Did you notice the semicolons ILAsm 2.0 allows the semicolons to be used for source readability, such as when you want to put several instructions on the same line. Semicolons are not required and have no role except a cosmetic one.) And after DEFLT_CTOR symbol has been defined, you can use it every time you need to declare a default constructor of some class: .class public A.B.C extends X.Y.Z { DEFLT_CTOR ... } .class public D.E extends [mscorlib]System.Object { DEFLT_CTOR ... }
