Visual Studio Console Application Template

Console Application Template is a Visual Studio Project Template. Console Application project template is used to creates console applications to be used via text-only computer interface. It draws the preliminary structure of the console application. With Console Application Template, Essential project reference and files are added to console applications automatically. It could also add the .NET PLANET Generator project reference to the console application. Thus, the complete .NET PLANET Generator functionality is inherited by the console application.

The Console Application retains all the functionality of .NET PLANET Generator. It supports image formats: GIF, BMP, PNG, JPEG, and BITMAP. It provides flexible barcode size options as well as barcode color options. The PLANET bar code image could be rotated to 0, 90, 180, or 270 degrees.

PLANET

Overview of PLANET

PLANET, which is known as Postal Alpha Numeric Encoding Technique, is a barcode symbol used by the United States Postal Service so as to identify and track pieces of mails during delivery which is the Post Office's Confirm services. The barcode has a full length of either 12 or 14 digits, which leads to its supersession by PLANET Barcode.

Function

Like other codes, Planet can be used in many ways, among which four aspects are the most significant ones. The first one is to identify mailpiece class and shape. Apart from that, it is also capable of identifying the Confirm Subscriber ID. What goes next is it consists of up to six digits of additional information which the Confirm subscriber chooses such as a mailing number, mailing campaign ID or a customer ID. The last one is it usually ends with a check digit.

Encoding

PLANET is similar to POSTNET in two aspects. Firstly, it can encode the data in half-and-full-height bars. Secondly, it always starts and ends with a full bar which is called a guard rail and a set of five bars represent each individual through using a 2 of 5 barcode. Nevertheless, the two bars are certainly full bars in POSTNET while in PLANET the 2 of 5 bars are short. Besides, the check digit is computed via summing up the other characters and calculating the single digit when it is added to the sum, making the total number 10.
