Adding images in CoffeeCup is much easier than typing all the information in a text editor Follow these steps to add images: 1 Click the Image button (the first one in the Code Editor s menu bar) or use the Ctrl+M key combination The Insert Image dialog box (shown in Figure 4-7) appears 2 Navigate to the image The URL of the image file appears in the Image box

3 Enter some alternate text (for non-visual browsers) in the Alt text box Alt text appears even if the image is unavailable 4 Optionally, enter a title for the image in the Title text box 5 You can specify the alignment of the image so that (for example) text will flow around it 6 If desired, set the width (in pixels) of a border that will appear around the image

7 If you want to resize the image, type the new height and width in the appropriate text boxes 8 If you want to make the image into a link, enter the URL or browse to locate the file 9 Click the OK button to finalize the image insertion

There are three ways to see the pages that you re creating in CoffeeCup: in the Code Editor (the actual HTML, XHTML, or whatever language you re using), in the Preview tab (the WYSIWYG view), or in a combination of the two It s an easy matter to switch among the views: In normal usage, simply click the Code Editor or Preview tabs To see both the code and its effect without having to switch back and forth, press the F12 function key from within the Code Editor To go back to the regular Code view, press it again Figure 4-8 shows the Preview tab, and Figure 4-9 shows the Code and Preview option

Of course, unless your site is a minimal one, you don t just tinker with a page here and a page there, but with the site as a whole That s where CoffeeCup s Website Project feature shines Here s how to use it: 1 Click the New Website Project button in the Welcome dialog box (see Figure 4-10) when you first launch CoffeeCup To get a new project going if you re already working in CoffeeCup, select My Websites New Website Project from the menu

2 In the Website Project Settings dialog box (shown in Figure 4-11), enter a name for the new project

3 In the Website Project Location text box, click the Browse button to the right and navigate to the local folder you want to use as the root for your Web site 4 If you have a Web server ready, check with your tech-support people to get the information you need to enter under the Server settings You can go ahead and build your site without having a Web server When you re ready to go on the Web, just add this info 5 Under File Upload, choose how you want CoffeeCup to handle dependent files (for example, included images) during uploads If you don t select the Check Dependencies before Uploading Files check box, then you can upload a page without regard to any dependent files You also have the option to specify whether to always upload dependent files (the default setting), never upload dependent files, or to have CoffeeCup ask you what you want to do at upload time 6 Click the OK button to finish From now on, all pages you create in this project will go into the folder you selected, shown in the My Websites panel on the left side of the screen
