In 2, I explain how to set the page title and page background with the normal HTML approach Here s how to set page properties with CoffeeCup:

1 First, you need a page to work with Click the New Blank Page button in the opening screen (refer to Figure 4-1) The Quick Start dialog box appears 2 Enter a title in the Page Title text box This text will appear at the top of your visitors Web browser screens when they visit your page 3 If you want to add a background image, click the Browse button (the little file folder with a green arrow) and then navigate to the image file and select it 4 If you want to change the background color, click the arrow to the right of the Background color to open a drop-down palette, as shown in Figure 4-2 Choose a color from the palette by clicking it

The color change is shown in the display area (see Figure 4-3) If you have already set a background image, then the background color won t matter because the image covers it 5 Similarly, to change the colors of the text or links, click the arrow next to the appropriate color box and then choose a color from that palette

6 Generally speaking, you shouldn t change the Advanced Settings such as Doctype unless your Web page has unusual requirements such as a need to use the Greek alphabet However, you may want to enter your keywords in the Meta Keywords text box (see 13 for more on keywords) If you want to add keywords later on, choose Insert Meta Keywords from the menu 7 Click the OK button to complete the process

A purely graphical Web page is, of course, something of an anomaly Generally speaking, most of any given page is made up of text Any text that leads to another Web page is said to be linked to the new page (See 2 for more info on text and links)

The Font button is the third one in the Code Editor s menu bar It has several options that you can choose from, each of which changes the formatting of your text (see Figure 4-4)

When the Font button is clicked, these are the formatting options available: Font Wizard: To set the typeface (Arial, Courier, and so on), you need to click the Font Wizard option In the resulting dialog box (see Figure 4-5), you can also specify the previously mentioned settings such as size Font Sizes: Set the size of the font (1 7) Font Color: Select the text color Font Effects: This option lets you choose options such as Bold and Italic Header Sizes: Set the size of headers (H1 H6)

To add a link, follow these steps: 1 Select the text you want to make into a link You can skip this step and enter the text in Step 3 if you haven t typed it yet 2 Click the Link button (the second one in the Code Editor s menu bar) and select Link (or simply use the Ctrl+L key combination) In the resulting dialog box (shown in Figure 4-6), the selected text is displayed 3 If no text was selected, you can enter it now in the Link Text box

4 Enter the URL of the page you want to link to If you ve linked to this file before, you can click the arrow to the right to select it from a drop-down list You can also click the Browse button to navigate to the file 5 If you don t want the linked page to open in place of your page, then choose the appropriate target (such as New Browser Window) 6 Optionally, enter text for a popup tooltip in the Title text box 7 Optionally, enter text for a status-bar message (Internet Explorer only) 8 Click the OK button to complete the process
